Meeting held with director of White House Office of Science and Technology Policy
Opportunities for knowledge and experience transfer with the USA, establishment of research and development centers, formation of artificial intelligence and data infrastructure, and human capital development were discussed.
Within the framework of the business visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, to the USA, Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov met with Michael Kratsios, Director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
At the meeting, it was emphasized that the business visit of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, to Washington at the invitation of the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, created a favorable basis for discussing the agenda of bilateral relations and developing partnership on a strategic level. The importance of projects implemented within the framework of mutual interests between our countries for the development of the region was noted, and the possibilities of realizing the existing potential for expanding economic cooperation through joint initiatives were reviewed.
The discussions highlighted Azerbaijan’s strategic geographical position, the successful results of reforms carried out to diversify the economy, the development of the non-oil and gas sector, and the favorable business and investment climate. It was emphasized that, against the backdrop of global challenges, the digital transformation of the economy and the promotion of knowledge-based sectors are among the main priorities of Azerbaijan’s development strategy.
The meeting emphasized technological innovations, scientific advancements, and the fundamental role of artificial intelligence in economic transformation. The efforts aimed at turning Azerbaijan into a strategic knowledge and innovation hub in the region, as well as the opportunities for realizing the cooperation potential between our countries in this direction, were noted.
