At the 3rd Azerbaijan–Uzbekistan Interregional Forum held in Baku, discussions were held on expanding relations between the regions of the two countries and implementing joint projects.
The 3rd Azerbaijan–Uzbekistan Interregional Forum was held in Baku with the support of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Economy and Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade, organized by the Export and Investment Promotion Agency – AZPROMO. The event brought together government officials from both sides, as well as representatives of companies operating in the fields of industry, energy, agriculture, logistics, pharmaceuticals, food, tourism, and consulting.
At the forum, Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov emphasized that the "Agreement on Allied Relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan," signed by the heads of state last year, further stimulates bilateral relations.
It was noted that the interregional forums jointly held with Uzbekistan serve as an effective platform for the development of bilateral relations. Many of the joint projects launched during the meeting of the heads of state with business representatives in Uzbekistan last year are being implemented specifically in the regions of both countries. These projects not only contribute to the balanced development of the regions but also help intensify economic partnership.
It was highlighted that in January–May of this year, the trade turnover between the two countries exceeded 200 million USD. Nevertheless, efforts are underway to promote exports, enhance joint activities in the field of investment, and expand direct business relations. The establishment of a trade representative office of Azerbaijan in Uzbekistan is also being planned.
It was noted that there is great potential for the development of cooperation between our countries in areas such as trade, investment, industry, energy, transport and transit, the Alat Free Economic Zone, business activities in the liberated territories, and other sectors. At the forum, Uzbek business representatives were invited to actively take advantage of the business opportunities available in Azerbaijan.
Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, emphasized the high-level relations between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan and the expanding economic and trade cooperation. He shared his views on the implementation of joint investment projects and the strengthening of partnerships between the business communities of both countries.
During the event, Yusif Abdullayev, Executive Director of AZPROMO; Orkhan Mammadov, Chairman of the Board of the Small and Medium Business Development Agency; and Yevgeniy Korzhikov, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan's "Uzkimyosanoat" JSC, delivered speeches on the investment climate of both countries and prospects for joint business cooperation.
