Presentation of the SPECA Multi-Partner Trust Fund held
As part of COP29, the presentation of the United Nations Special Programme for Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) Multi-Partner Trust Fund was held.
Within the framework of COP29, a briefing dedicated to the presentation of the SPECA Multi-Partner Trust Fund was held.
Asgar Alakbarov, an advisor to Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy, emphasized that the Fund, announced during the SPECA Ministerial Meeting on November 14 as part of COP29, is an important initiative aimed at addressing the challenges of its region. The institution is designed as a flexible and inclusive platform, enabling practical steps in key areas such as enhancing trade relations, increasing resilience to climate issues, and promoting innovation and digital transformation. The Fund provides tools for implementing effective projects that address climate and sustainable development challenges. It will also support projects that strengthen the economic integration and institutional capabilities among the SPECA countries. Through collaborating closely with international organizations, development banks, and the private sector, the Fund will mobilize resources and expertise to effectively solve these problems.
Dmitri Mariyasin, the Deputy Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), highlighted the importance of the Fund for the SPECA countries. He noted that to make the institution a model for regional cooperation and success, joint efforts should be strengthened.
