Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov accepted William Thompson, Head of Eurasia Department of the Global Relations Secretariat of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

The Minister of Economy underlined the significance of cooperation with the OECD in our country, the organization's fruitful cooperation within the framework of the Eurasian Competitiveness Program, and the participation of the Ministry of Economy in the annual "Eurasian Week" in Paris. “Partnership with the OECD has a major part in terms of applying international experience in the implementation of measures taken to develop and diversify the non-oil economy of Azerbaijan. There are opportunities for the development of small and medium-sized businesses, promoting digitalization, improving transparency and accountability in the field of taxation and developing cooperation in other areas, as well as implementing joint projects with the OECD”, Economy Minister said.

Head of the Eurasian Department of the OECD Global Relations Secretariat William Thompson expressed interest in widening relations with Azerbaijan, voicing that the implementation of joint initiatives and projects will contribute to the development of small and medium-sized businesses in Azerbaijan.

The meeting focused on projects to assess compliance with the EU Law on Small Business in the Eastern Partnership countries, corporate governance in portfolio companies of the Azerbaijan Investment Holding, and on the establishment of the Azerbaijan-OECD Cooperation Council.
