As part of a visit to Azerbaijan, a delegation led by the Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri visited the grave of national leader Heydar Aliyev on the Alley of Honors and laid a wreath at the monument paying the tribute to his memory. The delegation also revered the memory of fallen heroes who died for the independence and territorial integrity of our country.

On the same day, the Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov and the delegation of the United Arab Emirates held a meeting, where it was noted that Azerbaijan and the UAE are linked by high-level relations based on the principles of mutual friendship and respect. Underlining the successful economic cooperation with the United Arab Emirates, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy said that mutual trade is one of the main areas of cooperation, and in January-May 2021, trade turnover increased by 41% and exports by 40%. A number of mechanisms are used to develop trade and investment cooperation between the two countries. In addition, Azerbaijan has a trade office operating in the United Arab Emirates and the Azerbaijan Trade House in Dubai. Azerbaijan is among the active participants in investment forums held in the United Arab Emirates.

The meeting emphasized the effective role of the Azerbaijan-UAE Joint Intergovernmental Commission in the development of economic partnership, and an agreement was reached to hold the next meeting of the Commission in the near future.

Mr. Jabbarov drew attention to the possibilities of cooperation in the digital economy, transport and transit, alternative energy, small and medium-sized businesses, agriculture, tourism, etc., and called on UAE businessmen to take advantage of the favorable business and investment climate in Azerbaijan and invest in industrial zones. It was further noted that the joining of both countries to the Fourth Industrial Revolution Centers' network opens up new prospects for cooperation in this area.

Signifying satisfaction with his visit to Azerbaijan, the UAE Minister of Economy Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri emphasized the successful partnership with our country in a number of areas and shared his views on the possibilities of expanding trade and economic relations.

At the meeting, the sides discussed the areas for developing economic relations.
