Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov met with Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA Asset Assavbayev.

It was noted at the meeting that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation in the field of transport, and that our country is an initiator and active participant in international and regional transport projects.

Stressing the importance of partnership within the TRACECA, the Economy Minister noted that the implementation of the transport capabilities of the member countries further increased the transit and logistics attractiveness of the region, contributed to the development of multimodal transport, intensified economic, trade and cultural ties and strengthened the economic potential.

The work done to improve and develop transport infrastructure in Azerbaijan was discussed at the meeting. The meeting mentioned that the location of our country in an important strategic geopolitical position at the crossroads of international corridors and large-scale investments made it possible to implement large-scale transport and infrastructure projects in Azerbaijan. The measures taken to develop regional transport corridors and the reconstruction of roads and railways in accordance with international standards not only strengthen the transit potential of Azerbaijan, but also contribute to enhancement of the competitiveness of TRACECA.

Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA Asset Assavbayev emphasized the role of the international transport corridor in promoting traffic between member countries and strengthening economic partnership, noting that this work has become an important part of the Eurasian transport map.

The meeting discussed issues of increasing the competitiveness and efficiency of the TRACECA international transport corridor, expanding its coverage and increasing the performance of transportation through the introduction of digitalization.
