Discussions held to expand economic cooperation with the United Kingdom
Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Azerbaijan James Lyall Sharp.
Noting the expansion of Azerbaijani-British relations, the Minister of Economy emphasized the successful development of cooperation in various spheres of the economy, and implementation of, among other things, successful trade and investment cooperation between the countries. Great Britain is the largest investor in Azerbaijan. In January-March 2021, trade with the UK increased significantly.
At the meeting, information was presented in relation to the reforms carried out in the country and to the targets laid down by Azerbaijan in view of National Priorities for Socio-Economic Development until 2030, transformation into a country of clean environment and green growth.
Highlighting the achievements of Azerbaijan in recent years, Ambassador James Lyall Sharp said that his country is interested in expanding relations with Azerbaijan and shared his views on the development of economic partnership.
The sides discussed the possibilities of expanding cooperation in various spheres of the economy and other issues of mutual interest.
