Mehdi Samadov, Head of Department at the State Service on Property Issues under the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, participated in the International Symposium on Geospatial Knowledge and Innovation for Climate Resilience and Sustainable Development, held in Sanya, the People’s Republic of China, as well as the 15th Plenary Meeting of the United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management for Asia and the Pacific (UN-GGIM-AP).
The international symposium and plenary meeting featured extensive discussions on the effective management of marine and terrestrial geographic information systems (GIS) in a changing environment, the use of geospatial technologies to address climate change, digital mapping and the integration of geospatial information.
The State Service representative delivered a presentation on “Implementation of the United Nations Integrated Geospatial Information Framework (UN-IGIF)”, outlining work undertaken at the national level in geospatial information management, the application of modern GIS and efforts to strengthen climate resilience.
The State Service’s participation in international platforms of this kind strengthens Azerbaijan’s engagement with global initiatives on geospatial infrastructure and contributes to the sustainable development goals.
